Md. Tanvir Habib is a Lecturer of International Relations at University of Dhaka. His research interests lie in the intersection of Geopolitics, geo-economics and maritime strategies of nations. He primarily focuses on the Indo-Pacific region with a specific focus on various state’s bilateral relations with Bangladesh. He received Two gold Medals from the President of Bangladesh for his undergraduate results. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on Media and International Relations, Fundamentals of Global Governance, South Asian History, Politics and Culture. Apart from classroom instructions, he has engaged in providing research guidance to students, and leads the Extracurricular activities program in the Department of International Relations at University of Dhaka. He is currently engaged in a project on political socialisation among young Bangladeshis.
Before joining the University of Dhaka, he worked as lecturer of International Relations at Bangladesh University of Professionals, a public university in Bangladesh that is administered by the Armed forces, from June 2019 till December 2021. During the course of his service, Tanvir has taught Officer Cadets at Bangladesh military Academy. He guided young military officers and officer cadets in their academic pursuits, in improving their research qualities and in enshrining a sense of academic pursuit in military studies. Tanvir was the recipient of various awards for his academic achievements and extracurricular activities. He was an avid debater at university levels and led the University of Dhaka team at Oxford IV in 2017. He was also the English wing Convener at Dhaka University Debating Society. Tanvir is a food enthusiast with an avid interest in the history and evolution of cuisines. His cooking skills include basic execution of western style and a medium level execution of Bengali cooking style.
