Workshop 3 : ‘Writing for Policy Audiences’, Instructed by Dr.Vasudha Katju Assistant Professor, Kautilya School of Public Policy


Dr. Vasudha Katju, an esteemed Assistant Professor at the Kautilya School of Public Policy, India steered this enlightening session titled 'Writing for Policy Audiences' on 30th september 2023. Dr. Vasudha guided SAFF Fellows through a series of exercises designed to delve into the intricate art of writing. Emphasising the symbiotic relationship between reading and writing, this workshop imparted valuable insights, equipping SAFF Fellows with essential skills to effectively communicate complex research with policy audiences.

Workshop 2: "Kanoma: Clearing the Haze" A scenario-based exercise chaired by Dr. Dhanasree Jayaram, Assistant Professor at Department of Geopolitics and International Relations, and Co-coordinator, Centre for Climate Studies, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Karnataka, India


Dr. Dhanasree Jayaram expertly chaired and moderated a scenario-based exercise titled "Kanoma: Clearing the Haze" on 16 September 2023. This scenario-based exercise was designed by  CSDR's in-house Gaming Lab under the leadership of Dr. Sidharth Raimedhi. The SAFF Fellows navigated a complex scenario with the aim of devising a regional solution to address the challenge of Haze, all while grappling with geopolitical competition, security threats, and  economic crises.

Workshop 1 : "Thinking Critically about Geopolitics and Non-Traditional Security in South Asia" by Dr. Jabin Jacob, Associate Professor at the Department of International Relations and Governance Studies, Shiv Nadar Institute of Eminence


Dr. Jabin Jacob delivered a lecture titled "Thinking Critically about Geopolitics and Non-Traditional Security in South Asia"" on 9 September, 2023. A key takeaway from this session was the imperative to broaden one's thinking beyond conventional boundaries of traditional and non-traditional security paradigms, and the multiple ways in which geopolitics and national interests impact non-traditional security issues.

Orientation Session – 1st Cohort of South Asian Futures Fellows (2023)


Our Fellows, representing the rich tapestry of South Asia, had the opportunity to connect with each other during the dynamic Orientation Session on 2 September 2023. They received a sneak peek into the exciting range of activities and opportunities planned as part of the Fellowship in its inaugural year.      

Dr. Gaurav Saini set the stage by introducing the Council for Strategic and Defence Research (CSDR).  Dr. Tishya Khillare moderated the session where Fellows got to know each other better and introduced their research interests and institutional affiliations.
